Red Dirt at Tulsa Overground
A Red Dirt Roundup film has been accepted for the 8th annual Tulsa Overground Film Festival. The short film, Zen and the Art of Lawn Maintenance is on the festival schedule for this Sunday- August 21, 2005.
"I'm happier than a rooster in a 3 story chicken coop," said Rex Brown, director of the 5 minute short. "We submitted three films and had a pool going to see which one would be selected. Gary bet on none, so taking his money is an extra bonus!"
The short film features Dana Mason as the Lawn Buddha, a suburbanite seeking harmony in his yardwork. One scene shows Mason lighting incense before he can start his garden tractor. All scenes were shot on Mini DV in the Candlestick Beach area near the Keystone Dam. The Tulsa Overground Film Festival runs this weekend, August 19 through 21, at the Tulsa Performing Arts Center.
